THE BAND:

Steve Guild – Vocals & Drums

Steve Guild is a talented drummer and vocalist who has made a name for himself in the South African music industry. He started his career playing in original bands in Johannesburg and was even offered record deals with RPM Records and BMG. During this time, he played alongside some of South Africa’s top acts, including Brenda Fassie, MarcAlex, No Friends of Harry, Bright Blue, Celtic Rumours, and more. His experience with these bands helped him establish himself as a sought-after drummer in Johannesburg’s music circuit.

In his 20s, Steve moved to Cape Town and became a founding member of the original band One Big Rush. He was later headhunted by the band India, where he spent a couple of years recording albums and playing live gigs. Some of India’s songs even made it to the charts on 5FM, which further cemented Steve’s reputation as a talented musician.

After settling down, Steve decided to shift his focus to the cover band scene. He is now known for his strong drumming skills and his ability to sing while playing, which makes him a valuable addition to any band. His experience in the music industry and his versatility as a musician have made him a respected figure in the South African music scene. Steve’s contributions to the industry are appreciated by both his peers and his audiences, and he continues to inspire new generations of musicians to pursue their passion for music.

Ian Black – Vocals & Bass

Ian Black is a musician who has been playing the drums and studying music for the past 22 years. Growing up in a musical family, Ian’s father being a musician, he was heavily influenced by music from a young age. In high school, Ian became more serious about music as he entered the band and gigging scene, sparking the start of his education and career in teaching.

A few years after starting his journey as a drummer, Ian noticed a need for bassists in his local music scene. Being aware that drummers generally make good bass players, he decided to learn an additional instrument and jumped at the opportunity to fill this need. This decision led to a ripple effect, and he spent several years playing with various bands on many stages, honing his skills as a bassist.

Ian’s dedication to his craft has earned him a reputation as a talented and versatile musician. His experience playing both the drums and bass has made him a valuable asset to any band. Ian’s passion for music has also led him to a successful career in teaching, where he has been able to share his knowledge and experience with aspiring musicians.
